Artist Statement
First and foremost, I am an artist. I expressed myself in the way that I dance, the way that I dress, and the way that I breathe. Performance and dance as an art form has always been in my life, but recently it is taking a form that excites me and fills my heart. When I dance recently, I feel my Teta (grandmother in Arabic), come through and whether she is dancing with me or watching that connection is indescribable. I believe in practice as research, when researching a performance study topic, can you truly understand the gravity and interconnected emotion without performing it yourself? To perform it yourself connects you to all those who have danced before you in the same way.
Vision
My hope is to bring attention to and combine facets of society that would otherwise contradict; science and art, education and creativity, precise and ambiguous.
